Dermal fillers used at Tomorrow’s Wellness Center, are compounds that resemble naturally occurring chemicals and include; RADIESSE® which is comprised of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier and hyaluronic acid (HA) gel products, BELOTERO®, RESTYLANE®, RESTYLANE LIFT® and JUVÉDERM®. They are all FDA-approved, and are used to instantly smooth away moderate to severe wrinkles like smile lines (the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth) and restore lost volume for a fresher, more youthful appearance. BELOTERO®, RESTYLANE® and JUVÉDERM® can also be used to plump the lips. RADIESSE® is the thickest of products and can be used for laugh lines, deeper folds and to provide facial enhancement.
What makes BELOTERO®, RESTYLANE®, RESTYLANE LIFT® and JUVÉDERM® different is the density and cross linking of the hyaluronic particles as well as the depth of injection. The size difference in particles makes RESTYLANE LIFT® slightly thicker than RESTYLANE® or JUVÉDERM,® which make it a good choice for more severe facial wrinkles that benefit from a deeper injection into the skin. BELOTERO® is a good choice for superficial lines because it is thinner and can be injected close to the surface without creating a bluish reflection.
BELOTERO®, RESTYLANE®, RESTYLANE LIFT® and JUVÉDERM® are clear gel like substances composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally exists in the body. While hearing the word “acid” may sound scary, hyaluronic acid isn’t harsh or damaging at all, in fact it’s the opposite. Within the human body, large amounts of hyaluronic acid are found between the cells, where it provides skin with its youthful suppleness and moisture. Unfortunately, our natural levels of hyaluronic acid decrease with age. When you receive a treatment with BELOTERO®, RESTYLANE®, RESTYLANE LIFT® and JUVÉDERM®, the lost hyaluronic acid is added back into the skin, restoring the lost volume to smooth those unsightly wrinkles or add fullness to thin lips.
RADIESSE® is the thickest of products and can be used for laugh lines, deeper folds and to provide cheek enhancement and jowl support. Once injected, it provides immediate volume and may provide long-lasting effects by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen.
Dermal fillers, depending on the agent used, site of injection and lifestyle may last up to a year. Durability of the fillers will vary among individuals as well as amount needed to make a full correction. With repeated treatments, the effects of all dermal fillers can be prolonged so you never have to stop looking and feeling your best.
Before the Filler Treatment
All injections involve some degree of discomfort but Dr. Hernberg uses a local anesthetic in all of the products to reduce the discomfort. Other measures, including nerve blocks and topicals can be used to minimize the discomfort associated with the injections. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen), St John’s Wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Please inform the office if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores. We will often prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence.
After Filler Treatment
You may have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, and tenderness following treatment. This may last up to 7 days. Generally less bruising occurs with the thinner HA products. Contact Dr. Hernberg if you experience side effects beyond 7 days, or if you have any concerns or questions. Follow-up appointments are recommended 10-14 days after treatment. Immediately after treatment apply cold compresses to reduce swelling. Avoid touching the treated area for the first six hours following treatment. After six hours, the area can be gently washed with soap and water. Avoid exposure to intense heat (sun lamp or sun bathing). Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St John’s Wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
BELOTERO®is a hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable filler that completely integrates into the skin tissue. While some fillers are designed to rebuild facial volume and structure, BELOTERO® specifically treats moderate-to-severe etched-in lines and wrinkles such as vertical lip lines above and around the lips. BELOTERO®can be injected directly and very superficially into fine lines to avoid bumps or Tyndall effect (the blue discoloration under the skin that can occur with superficial filler placement). BELOTERO®softens lines and wrinkles around the nose, mouth, and eyes for smooth, natural-looking results. BELOTERO®has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for subtle, and even correction. No filler has been able to accomplish this since Collagen was removed from the market due to its high cost and the need for allergy testing. BELOTERO®s versatility makes it gentle enough to treat more delicate facial areas such as vertical lip lines, lower eyelid lines and hollows, and even the “11” lines and crows feet.
Juvederm is a colorless injectable filler made of hyaluronic acid and FDA approved to temporarily correct facial folds and creases. Radiesse is FDA approved for soft tissue augmentation of the face and hands. This injectable filler is composed of microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite, a mineral found in bones and teeth. - Nasolabial folds (“smile lines”)
- Marionette lines
- Chin-lip creases

Restylane was the first injectable filler made of hyaluronic acid to be approved by the FDA for restoring volume to moderate and severe facial wrinkles, folds and creases. It is colorless HA gel and is widely used for this and many other off-label purposes.
Restylane can be used to plump and restore volume to any of the following areas:

The effects of Restylane injections are temporary and typically last up to six months.
