SilkPeel’s diamond tip hand piece exfoliates damaged skin cells, evenly abrading the top layer of the skin in order to deliver targeted formulations to the epidermis.
Microdermabrasion is a way of gently removing the outermost layer of your skin, stratum corneum. This layer provides a barrier to the sun and anything that is exposed to the skin, but it also gets in the way of absorption of beneficial products as well as skin turnover to promote skin metabolism. There are different ways to remove this layer. At Tomorrow’s Wellness Center, we have three different approaches to micro dermabrasion: Epidermal Leveling, Silk Peel, and the VibraDerm. The Silk Peel and the VibraDerm devices allow us to infuse skin care products during the procedure. The Silk Peel Dermal Infusion device uses a diamond tip to gently exfoliate the skin. It is adjustable from extremely light to very aggressive so that we can tailor the treatment to your individual goals. At the same time, we can simultaneously infuse products that can hydrate, lighten, reduce fine lines, tighten pores, and reduce acne. Even the most sensitive-skin individual may benefit from a Silk Peel that has been adjusted for their skin type.
How do I know if I need Silk Peel?
Individuals seeking to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, age spots and acne concerns with no downtime are good candidates for this procedure. If you have diabetes, autoimmune disease, history of cold sores or have had injectable fillers in the area to be treated let us know prior to having any facial treatment. All skin types can benefit from the Silk Peel treatment.
How does Silk Peel work?
The Silk Peel can help anyone who has acne, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, brown spots, mild wrinkles, skin dullness and large pores. Unlike other microdermabrasion, the Silk Peel Dermal infusion System combines non-invasive exfoliation with deep delivery of specific solutions directly to the skin – without the use of crystal. Silk Peel is exclusively offered at medical facilities. The procedure is non-invasive and even soothing; delivering the results, you want without harsh chemicals or uncomfortable treatments. The Silk Peel is a 30-minute treatment and you can return to activities immediately.
What benefits can I expect?
To jump-start your new skin we recommend 3-4 treatments 2 weeks apart and maintenance every 2-3 months. However, even one silk peel will usually refresh your skin for up to four weeks!
What are the risks and side effects?
Usually there is no downtime with the Silk Peel, but some individuals can experience tightening of the skin and mild exfoliation. Post treatment the skin may be slightly pink but this should last for about one hour.
How will I look and feel during and after the treatment?
Your skin care professional will choose one or more of our specialized infusions, formulated to address a variety of skin conditions. The Silk Peel infuses these products deep into the skin where they are most effective. The solution delivers hydrating, antioxidant, acne fighting and pore reducing, and/or lightening infusions into your skin. After cleansing and preparing your skin, your esthetician will perform the procedure with the specialized hand-piece. The treatment uses a closed-loop vacuum system resembling that of a wand to exfoliate the skin. Our aesthetician will recommend the appropriate topical to infuse the skin and stimulate new cell growth. Each pass gently abrades away dead skin, thoroughly and evenly exfoliating while infusing the treatment solution into the skin. Your skin immediately looks clearer and brighter and definitely feels smoother and your makeup will go on easily. You can resume your daily routine and activities after the procedure. Mineral makeup is recommended as it heals and soothes the skin without irritation post procedure and covers up possible redness, which should lighten after a few hours.
Is there another way to get the same effect?
Alternative forms of treatment for wrinkles and scars include BOTOX Cosmetic, Injectable fillers, Palomar 1540 Fractional Laser, Micro needling, Laser Genesis, IPL, and chemical peels. The Silk Peel is different from other treatments since it does not use harsh crystals that can irritate the skin like other microdermabrasion treatments.
Can this be combined with other treatments?
The Silk Peel may be combined with many other cosmetic treatments in our office such as Photo rejuvenation, Tissue Tightening Lasers, BOTOX Cosmetic, and Injectable fillers. Many individuals choose to undergo combination treatments in order to achieve the maximum aesthetic result.
